Arrival
Staff supervision of students begins at 8:35 a.m. For safety reasons, no students are to arrive at school before 8:35 a.m. except for those children who are supervised in the Prime Time Program, or participate in Running Club M/W/F at 8:25. Breakfast is served from 8:45 a.m. - 9:00 each morning.
It is important that your child is on time to school each day. Please have your child to school each morning no later than 8:50 a.m. each day. When children are late, it not only disrupts the learning in the classroom, it disrupts your child. Being on time, with some minutes to spare, means they are not rushing, coming in scrambling, etc. Being on time also helps them build a life long habit of being punctual. Coming on time for school helps your child be ready for the day's instruction. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Student Drop Off
Adults bringing children to school should park on a neighborhood street to either walk them in or drop them off. Please do NOT drop your child off in the staff parking lot. Please never park or stop in red zones or in the bus zone to drop or pick up children. Also, please be respectful of our neighbors by not blocking driveways, etc., even for "just a moment."
Kindergarten: |
Please bring your child to the Kindergarten Playground area in the morning no earlier than 8:40 a.m. At the morning bell, children will line up at their line number where the teacher will meet them to take them into the classroom.
|
Grades 1-5: |
All students are to go directly to the cafeteria area for breakfast or to the pit. Students are not to go to their classrooms until the whistle has been blown at 8:50. Supervision is provided in the cafeteria area and the pit. Children then line up at their number where the teacher will meet them to take them into the classroom.

Walking
Our Safety Patrol helps provide safe travel to and from school at Stadium and Eton Street. Please be respectful and listen to them. They have been trained by a San Diego Police Department Officer. They are in-charge of the intersection. Please do not honk, make faces or give them a hard time. If you have concerns, please speak with the adult or the principal. For safety reasons, please always use the crosswalk when crossing the street. Please do not use your cell phone while in the crosswalk.
Bicycles
The San Diego Police Department requests that only students in grades four and above ride bicycles to school. Younger students may ride their bike to school with an adult. Although the school has designated areas on campus for students to park bicycles, the San Diego Unified School District is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss of use to any bicycle, equipment or article left in or around this area. All such risk is assumed by the student and his or her parent.
All bicycles should have locks and licenses. Students are urged to secure their bicycles in an appropriate manner by using a quality lock and chain or other devices.
Helmets are required by California law. Students not wearing helmets may lose the privilege of parking a bike on school grounds. As defined in Vehicle Code Section 21212, any person under 18 years of age must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or when wearing in-line or roller skates. Helmets must also meet the standards of either the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Dismissal
Students are dismissed promptly at 3:25 p.m. (12:20 p.m. on Wednesdays) and should leave campus immediately upon dismissal unless they are in the Prime Time Program. The busses are scheduled to leave at 3:45 p.m.
Student Pick Up
Gates open at 3:25 for family to enter campus and meet your child. Cars are not to enter the parking lot at any time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please ensure the safety of all students by not parking in the bus loading area and/or asking your child(ren) to cross the street without a crossing guard present. The school's main concern is for the health and safety of your children.
Specific dismissal procedures vary by grade level, as indicated below:
Kindergarten: |
Students are dismissed from the classroom area by their teacher upon seeing a responsible adult or older sibling. For students who ride the bus, the teacher walks students to the bus zone and will put them on the bus.
|
Grades 1-3: |
Teachers dismiss students from the classrooms upon seeing a responsible adult or older sibling. Children who ride the bus are to immediately go to the bus loading area.
|
Grades 4-5: |
Teachers dismiss students from the classroom and they are to leave campus via the front or side entrance. If they are responsible for a younger student, they must go pick them up and then promptly head home. Children who ride the bus are to immediately go to the bus loading area.
|
PrimeTime Extended Day Program Students: |
All PrimeTime Program students are dismissed from their classrooms and sent to the auditorium for check in. Kindergarten students are picked up at their classrooms by a PrimeTime staff member.
|
Students Who Ride the Bus: |
All buses park in the loading/unloading zone on Stadium Street. All bus students and space-available riders will check if their bus is there and proceed to the bus or line up in the bus "wait" area to the left of the entrance gate on Stadium.
